Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods was hot early, avoided serious trouble and ended Thursday's opening round on the right side of par, ESPN.com points out.  Having opened at 13/1 odds at SBG Global, the online bookmakers were starting to release updated odds on Woods, slashing them in half to 7/1.

"I played too good not to shoot under par, and it would have been very disappointing and frustrating to end up at even par as well as I played today," said Woods, who was three strokes behind leaders Bubba Watson and Francesco Molinari. "To shoot under par just feels like less than I should have shot for the way I played today and that's a good feeling."

Odds on Tiger were the longest ever coming into a major tournament following a dismal performance this past weekend at the Bridgestone Invitational. He shot 18 over par for four rounds at the Firestone Country Club, a place he had won seven times.

The updated 7/1 odds are still a great valueconsidering Woods would typically open at odds no longer than 3/1.
