If you are like us you follow the Sagarin Ratings.  So, too, do the oddsmakers.

This March Madness we will be relying on the highly successful and respected KenPom ratings for all your sports betting needs

Here is how you calculate your betting lines using KenPom.  Subtract the Adjusted Efficiency Margin numbers then multiply that total by the combination of each team's Adjusted Tempo (Possessions Per 40 Minutes) then divide by 200 and you have your magic number.  You will add or subtract 3.5 as your average home court advantage.

For example:

Let's say the Houston Cougars are facing off the Tennessee Vols in Tennessee.

Houston's AdjEM is 31.99 as of March 1, 2024.  Tennessee's AdjEM is 26.94.  The difference is 5.05.

Houston's AdjT is 63.9.  Tennessee's AdjT is 69.7.  Added together you get a number of 133.6.

Now take 5.05 and multiply that number by 133.6.  You get a number of 674.7.

Now divide 674.7 by 200.  Your number is Houston 3.37.

With the game being played in Tennessee, your line should be a PICK'EM.

No Sagarin College Basketball This Season

Here we are heading into Christmas and Jeff Sagarin is yet to post his college basketball plays.

Sagarin is awesome in that you can take each team's rating and come up with a number that is typically not too far off from the actual line, barring any injuries.  Sagarin is an exception tool for making your sports picks, just not college basketball at this time.

This time last year the Sagarin college basketball ratings were out before Thanksgiving.

Posting on Reddit, one anxious sports gambling enthusiast wrote: "I was really hoping he would find the time after the College Football regular season ended to update the College Basketball rankings. I can't hold out any longer. After over 25 years I am going to have to use the Pomeroy college basketball rankings instead."

We here at Gambling911 are unfamiliar with the Pomeroy college basketball rankings, also known as the KenPom rankings.  We may have to start checking them out with conference play on the horizon.

The Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings are a series of predictive ratings of men's college basketball teams published free-of-charge online by Ken Pomeroy. They were first published in 2003. The sports rating system is based on the Pythagorean expectation, though it has some adjustments.
