France's Alain Bernard won the Men's 100m Freestyle Tuesday night (US time) as the +115 favorite at BetCRIS.com. He has the distinction perhaps of being the "most hated man in the US during the Olympics" after declaring France "Will smash the US". That hasn't happened but Bernard did break the old record until Australian sprint ace Eamon Sullivan took it right back. 47.05 seconds is the new record set by Eamon.

Bernard did beat Jason Lezak of the US, who walked off (or should we say, swam off) with the bronze.

Despite his record-breaking surge this year, Sullivan's rise to the top has been a work in progress since making his debut for Australia at the Athens Olympics as a member of the 4 x 100m freestyle relay team, according to Rebecca Williams of the Herald Sun.

His body is finally letting him achieve his potential after years of injury setbacks.

Sullivan claimed bronze in the 100m freestyle at last year's world championships, finishing just .04sec off the gold medal.

Federica Pellegrini was the gold for Italy in the Women's 200m Freestyle - Final. All three medalists broke the old record.

BetCRIS.com had odds for the 50M Freestyle Men's which had Sullivan as the even favorite and Alain Bernard paying almost 2/1 odds if he is to win.
