2012 Preakness Stakes Contenders

With the post positions now determined, Gambling911.com takes a look at the 2012 Preakness Stakes contenders and their advantages/disadvantages.  You can bet the Preakness Stakes online at WagerWeb.com and receive a FREE CASH bonus up to 200 percent of your initial deposit and or wager.

I’ll Have Another was listed at +250 for a payout potential of $25 on every $10 bet.  At that price, this Kentucky Derby winner still had decent value.

Analysts at WagerWeb.com had this to say about I’ll Have Another:

I’ll Have Another has proved a real gamer in his last two triumphs. Both times he looked rivals in the eye and disposed of them. He should do it again.

I’ll Have Another will be starting from the number 9 post position.  He was the first horse to win the Kentucky Derby from the number 19 position nearly two weeks ago.

"Anything with a nine is fine for us," trainer Doug O'Neill said.

Bodemeister was coming in at +160 odds as the favourite, with a payout potential of $16 for every $10 bet.  He drew the number 7 spot.

"I'm confident," said O'Neill, who believes his horse has improved since winning the Derby. "As long as we continue to train like our horse has trained, we won't be that far off Bodemeister. If anything, Bodemeister might be behind us early. I could see him chasing us."

Bodemeister led the longer Kentucky Derby race until falling behind in the final seconds to I’ll Have Another.  The suggestion is that Bodemeister can win at the shorter distance.  He was, after all, dominant throughout the Derby.

WagerWeb analysts point to two other serious Preakness Stakes contenders:

Daddy Nose Best endured a horrible trip in the Derby right from the start after been forced in and steadied. Then the Sunland Derby winner made a good run to mid-stretch where he was bumped. A better trip should improve his 10th place finish and could put him in the money.

Went the Day Well was traveling best of all in the Derby, making up more than eight lengths in the stretch to finish fourth. A good trip will mean hitting the board and maybe even result in a victory.

Went The Day Well was a long shot at 6/1 odds at WagerWeb.com
