Portal Produces Record Number of Bowl Odds Changes
Bowl season is here (7 games Saturday!), and for many bettors it will bring Christmas cheer.
What’s different about this year, which may or may not benefit the bettors, is that we’ve seen a record number of bowl odds movements due to the transfer portal.
Some spreads at SportsBetting.ag have moved more than a touchdown, and the website is reporting that only ONE game hasn’t move off its opening spread. The previous record for bowl line changes 48 hours prior to the first game was four games.
Below you can find the latest bowl lines with changed in odds notated. And here are some interesting notes regarding the action and movement as well:
- Only 1 spread (Georgia Tech vs UCF) since the opening lines were released (Dec. 3) has remained the same
- Louisville vs USC went from USC 3½ to +7½, an 11-point swing and a new favorite
- Toledo vs Wyoming went from Toledo 6 to +3, a nine-point swing and a new favorite
- Rutgers vs Miami went from Miami 9½ to -1, an 8.5-point swing
- North Carolina vs West Virginia went from UNC 2½ to +6, an 8.5-point swing and a new favorite
- Georgia Southern vs Ohio went from Ohio 2½ to +4, a 6.5-point swing and a new favorite
- Virginia Tech vs Tulane went from VT 2½ to -8½, a six-point swing
- Missouri vs Ohio State went from Ohio State 3 to +2½, a 5.5-point swing and a new favorite
- West Kentucky vs Old Dominion went from WKU 2½ to +2½, a five-point swing and a new favorite
