91,000 Online Gambling Accounts Set Up in New Jersey After One Month

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (Associated Press) -- New Jersey casinos added 20,000 Internet gambling accounts last week.

The state's Gaming Enforcement Division said Monday that 91,531 accounts had been created as of Sunday. The number of individual gamblers who have played so far has yet to be determined, though, as some users have created accounts with multiple gambling websites in New Jersey.

Casino operators gathered in DC on Tuesday evening to develop a strategy against GOP billionaire donor and Chairman of the Las Vegas Sands, Sheldon Adelson.

Two More Casinos Approved for Online Gambling in New Jersey

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (Associated Press) - New Jersey approved two additional casinos Wednesday to conduct Internet gambling, bringing the total to seven so far.

But last-minute testing that was to continue late into the night might knock some out of the running for Thursday night's launch of a five-day test period, also called soft play.

David Rebuck, director of the state Division of Gaming Enforcement, said his office was testing the systems of the seven casinos.

Delaware Ready to Go With Halloween Launch of Online Gambling

DOVER, Del. (Associated Press) — Delaware lottery officials are beginning real-stakes Internet gambling in Delaware with an element of secrecy.

State lottery director Vernon Kirk said Tuesday that officials will conduct a “soft launch” of online gambling on Thursday with a select group of preferred players.

He refused to say who those players are, how they were selected, or how many there are, saying state officials have decided to keep that information confidential

AGA Proposes Changes To Slot Machine Shipping Regulations

The American Gaming Association is urging a regulation change in the shipment of slot machines in a bid to streamline the process.

The association, which represents casinos, game and software providers, is asking for the changes in order to cut down the 1.5 million different regulatory requirements of which they describe, “overly costly and complex.”

US Online Gamblers Spent US$2.6 Billion in 2012

WASHINGTON—(AFP) - Americans spent US$2.6 billion on gambling websites in 2012, according to a study released Tuesday by the casino industry as it renewed a push for Congress to regulate online betting.

The American Gaming Association, which released the study, said it highlights the need for federal legislation to end the state of “ambiguity” on Internet wagering.

New Jersey Expects to Have Online Gambling Sites Going by November 26

ATLANTIC CITY  — (Associated Press) - New Jersey says it remains on track to start offering Internet gambling by the end of November, although a final launch date has not yet been determined.

The state Division of Gaming Enforcement says it is trying to meet a state deadline of Nov. 26.

The division said Monday that casinos submitted additional information it requested by last Friday's deadline so that regulators can evaluate their applications to begin online betting.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in Argentina for allegedly hacking into online gambling sites and payment processors. 

Dubbed "the superhacker", the teenager was making $50,000 (£31,500) a month, working from his bedroom in Buenos Aires, police told the Reuters.

Curacao Fines Online Gambling Company for Operating Without a License

The Dutch Antilles island of Curacao has fined an online gambling operator $100,000 for failing to hold a gaming license.

The company, Global Stars, focuses primarily on the Dutch market where such activity is deemed illegal.

Jan Suyver, chairman of the Kansspelautoriteit, said that “companies offering online gambling now know they can be penalised because licences are yet to be granted, and consumers know that those who do so are not being supervised by the government.”

Delaware Rolls Out Online Gambling

The US state of Delaware rolled out its free online casino gaming platform Wednesday ahead of its planned October launch of real money online gambling.

888 to Bring its Online Gaming Brand to New Jersey

(Reuters) - London-listed 888 Holdings announced plans on Tuesday to launch online poker and casino games under its own brand in New Jersey this year when the state ends a ban on Internet gambling, entering a crowded field.

Internet betting was banned by Congress in 2006, dealing a blow to companies like 888 which had set up in the United States. However, tax-hungry states are now relaxing rules, creating opportunities for European players with years of expertise in the sector.
