Week 4 NFL Games Some of the Most Watched in Years (October 3, 2023)

Sportsbook operators are most certainly going to be licking their chops when they see these numbers.

NFL Ratings: CBS had the most watched Week 4 singleheader since 2010, led by the Dolhins-Bills game, which averaged 16.8 million viewers.

Then there was the so-called "Taylor Swift" impact.  Her anticipated appearance at the Chiefs-Jets game most certainly contributed to the average of 27 million people tuning into NBC Sunday night.  That made it the most-watched Sunday TV show since the Super Bowl, according to NBC Sports.

Swift's appearance coincides were her dating Chiefs star player Travis Kelce.

It should be noted that viewership was down 4 million compared to last Sunday's Chiefs game, which drew 24.32 million,  That marked the first time Taylor cheered on Travis from a suite.

Eagles Sign CB Isaiah Rodgers, Suspended for One Year as Part of Gambling Probe (August 28, 2023)

Former Indianapolis Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers will be joining the Philadelphia Eagles, though he will have to wait a year to play.

Rodgers was suspended by the Colts following a probe into his violation of the league gambling policy.

Rodgers is suspended for at least the entire 2023 campaign, and he can’t apply for reinstatement until after the season. In theory, he’d join the Eagles for the 2024 season.

Rodgers was one of over a dozen suspended as part of the sweeping gambling investigation.

He allegedly made approximately 100 bets between $25 and $50. He also is accused of placing a $1,000 wager on an over/under rushing yards prop bet involving a Colts running back.

The Detroit Lions were hit especially hard with some players suspended indefinitely for betting on NFL games.  Wide Receivers Jameson Williams and Stanley Berryhill were suspended six games for placing bets from team facilities.

One Dead After Titans CB Caleb Farley Charlotte NC House Explodes (August 22, 2023)

(Reuters) - One person died and another was injured when the suburban Charlotte home owned by Tennessee Titans cornerback Caleb Farley exploded overnight, per authorities in Mooresville, North Carolina.

Farley was not home at the time of the explosion but was at the property speaking with police early Tuesday morning.

Aerial footage of the lakeside home from QCNews.com showed the residence was reduced to rubble. Iredell County said the residence was 6,300 square feet and would be ruled a complete loss, along with multiple vehicles parked on site.

Fire and emergency rescue officials confirmed one male was deceased and another was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Farley, 24, played at Virginia Tech and was a first-round pick of the Titans in 2021. He had multiple back surgeries in college and landed on injured reserve in 2022 to undergo another procedure, a microdiscectomy, after playing in nine games.

Dalvin Cook Expected to Sign With Jets: Latest Odds (July 28, 2023)

Dalvin Cook appeared on NFL Network Friday morning and said the Jets are “right at the top of the list” of teams he’d like to play for in 2023, adding that the “possibility is high”.

He was set to visit the team this weekend.

Up until just last week the New England Patriots were favorites to sign Cook.

The Jets could completely turn things around this season with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback and Cook would only add to the win potential.

They were favorites to win 8 to 11 regular season games at 5-1 to 6-1:  8 wins pays $600 on a $100 bet, 9 pays $500, 10 pays $550, 11 pays $600.

The Dolphins have also been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Cook and the Miami native said it would be a “Cinderella story” to return home.

Playing for the Minnesota Vikings last season, Cook averaged 15.52 carries per game and 17.82 total touches. The prior year, he had 19.15 carries per game, and 21.7 touches per game. His career high came in 2020, with 22.2 carries per game and 24.4 touches per game.

Tom Brady Returning to the Bucs Again? (July 14, 2023)

We've been here before but speculation is running high that Tom Brady could make a return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season.  The Bucs current regular season win total for 2023 was set at 6.5.

Appearing as a guest on The Richard Sherman Podcast, Bucs safety, Antoine Winfield Jr., says he believes Brady could make a return.

"You know what, when he first said he retired, I really thought that he was done. He surprised me when he came back. He might be like, I've had enough of a break, I'm trying to come back and play. I really don't know, to be honest with you."

He says the Bucs will likely welcome Brady back with open arms BUT...

Barstool Sports Steven Cheah noted that "the Bucs have $1.4 million dollars in cap room, but Brady represents $35M of dead cap this year. If he comes back, they would have to work some magic."

And then there is the issue of Brady's ownership in the Las Vegas Raiders.

"Can that be put off?," Cheah asks. "Can he get out on time? This could be a sticky issue."
