'Mouth' Defends Burning Man Disaster: People I Know There Now Saying They Are Having Time of Their Life (September 4, 2023)

If you haven't heard by now, this year's Burning Man event has been portrayed as an absolute disaster with vehicles getting trapped in the mud and attendees unable to escape.

The week-long large-scale desert campout focuses on community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance and is held near Reno, Nevada.

Poker pro Mike "The Mouth" Matusow describes what we are all reading as a "false narrative".

"Watching people on Twitter make up false narratives about Burning Man is so 2023! They make it out like worst people in the world are there which is such a lie I personally know 25 people who are there now and tell me it’s the best time of their lives! So much hate on social media it’s a joke! #BurningMan2023"

While Mike had some defenders, most of his followers laughed off the idea that anyone could actually be having fun under these circumstances.

"I heard they’re trapped in a mud pit and have little food and Ebola is going around," wrote Gerid Goudwin.

Devers writes:

"What’s the best part? No where to go to the bathroom? Rationing food and drink for 4 more days? Your “25 friends” are either lying to you or….well let’s hope they are just lying to you for your sake."

One person is believed to have died at the event so far.

'Mouth' Turning on Trump?  Says He Can't Win General (August 28, 2023)

One of the most ardent supporters of Donald Trump believes he cannot win in a general election despite his significant lead to win the GOP nomination.

Instead, Mike "The Mouth" Matusow appears to be endorsing billionaire businessman and political newcomer Vivek Ramaswamy.

The Mouth responded to a tweet by the co-owner of Trending Politics, Collin Rugg, celebrating the former president's latest indictment.

"NEW: Donald Trump supporters gather outside of Trump Tower in New York City to show their support for the former president after he was arrested in Fulton County. The mugshot was the greatest thing to ever happen to Trump. Why? In the 24 hour period after the mugshot’s release, the Trump campaign raised a whopping $4.18 million, the most ever raised in a 24 hour period for the campaign. … and his base is fired up."

Matusow came out swinging.

"You guys are so stupid they want Trump as nominee they have so much amo to beat him in General it’s a war chest! Get behind @VivekGRamaswamy so we can win morons!"

'Mouth' on Vivec Debate Strategy: Must Appeal to Hardcore MAGA Supporters (August 24, 2023)

Vivek Ramaswamy dominated Wednesday night's Republican Debate but whether his strategy was a success remains to be seen.

Poker pros Daniel Negreanu (a liberal) and Mike "The Mouth" Matusow (a Donald Trump supporter) questioned Vivek's strategy via Twitter.

Negreanu tweeted:

"The Vivek strategy tonight: Declare yourself as the most pro-Trump candidate on the stage Appeal to the Trump voters Question is why? It’s obvious he thinks this strategy is optimal, but to what end? Seems like he is setting himself up to be the back up plan If you don’t punch at Trump, he will likely leave you be if he doesn’t see you as a threat, so there is that Personally, I don’t think his target audience would ever actually vote for him for various reasons I won’t mention, but the strategy was so clearly crafted to set himself apart from the other candidates He yelled out at one point and raised his hand saying, “Who here will pardon Trump on the first day in office? I will on day one.” That’s after saying he was the greatest POTUS in the 21st century I enjoy debates of all kinds and find them intriguing. It’s fun to figure out why people choose the strategies they do, like a puzzle… like poker."

Matusow responded:

"He knows he can’t win the primary without the 32% of the hardcore maga right so he must appeal to them if he’s actually gonna have any chance of overtaking Trump to win the nomination! #Genious."

Still others had their opinions in responding to both players.

Steve responded to Negs:

"The strategy for him is, Trump goes to prison and becomes ineligible, then the most loyal Trumper wins. Scary thing is, it might work."

Mahowny offered:

"Vivek is quite impressive, great public speaker. I don't really see him taking a role as Trumps VP which would be the obvious reason on why he is taking this route. Possibly he sees something the others are missing which is to court the Trump/Maga voters to his side at any cost."

Matusow's followers were less impressed with The Mouth's assessment.

Negreanu himself quipped:

"Only Mikey could misspell the word “Genious”,

Matusow Blames Covid for Ensuring He Won't Get Into Poker Hall of Fame (August 22, 2023)

Appearing on The Nick Vertucci Show this week, Mike, appearing alongside his beloved pet cat, talked about his spinal chord injury and the pain he's had to endure as a result of it.

"It causes signal changes all over my body where everything is in pain, I get weakness," The Mouth reveals.

Those struggles with pain forced Mike to get an $80-a-night room at the hotel where this year's World Series of Poker was taking place.  Normally, he said, he's travel back and forth on his scooter between home and the event.

Matusow played especially well this year.  He finished 2nd at the $ 1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better (Bracelet Event 55).

"I will have a room at the Series for the rest of my life I think," he said.

They then turn to the discussion of whether Matusow should be entered into the Poker Hall of Fame.

"I put too much pressure on myself.  It's like I wanted to win so bad that I kind of gave it away.

"You know, I just felt I had to win, you know, because I have to get in the Hall of Fame.  And the bottom line was I was never getting in the Hall of Fame whether I won that tournament or not."

Vertucci came right out and asked why Mike feels he won't get in the Poker Hall of Fame.

"They put people in front of me who can't beat me in any game."

Matusow believes the limitations on the number entered each year puts him at a tremendous disadvantage and that four of the last ten entries should not have gone in before him.  He did not name names.

He added: "Going from Covid they went from two to one.  Everyone thought they were going to move from 2 to 4 (a year)."

But worse still, The Mouth points out that the entire vote is left up to the 32 people currently in the Hall of Fame.

"So now you have people I've played with my entire life, some of them are jealous of me because they've never beaten me."
