Twilight Zone: Adeslon Favors Online Poker and Wants to Throw Hat in Ring

Las Vegas casino magnate and GOP mega donor Sheldon Adelson praised lawmakers who have taken on a pro-Internet gambling position and proclaimed: "(We are) pleased that the Nevada Legislature has taken the lead in regulating internet casinos" and added, "Our hat will be in that ring.”

The Las Vegas Sun also reported:

You can stop pinching yourselves.

This is not a joke.  It’s all true!

Adelson’s pro-Internet gambling stance, however, is circa 2001, as PocketFives.com so brilliantly reveals in a published piece this week.

Fast forward to 2014 and Adelson has claimed online gambling is responsible for the moral decay of society.  He’s paid lobbyists to push for a federal ban. Republican cronies even introduced legislation that would prohibit the activity at his behest.

We can’t help but question the sudden change of heart.

A member of the TwoPlusTwo.com posting forum offered up this possible theory:

"He was only 68 back then. You can't blame a guy for his youthful indiscretions. He was immature and looking to spread vice through the land. Now, he's a grown man and wants to prevent you from clicking mouses and losing houses."
