Some Payment Processors to Block Unlicensed Online Gambling Sites in UK

Some of the UK-based payment processors have agreed to block money transactions to and from unlicensed online gambling sites.

Financial corporations such as Visa, MasterCard and Paypal struck a deal with the UK Gambling commission to stop the aforementioned gambling transactions, according to PokerNews.com.

Interestingly enough,

The House of Lords had earlier rejected a proposed amendment to the Gambling (Licensing & Advertising) Bill that would have required payment processors to block such transactions.

Licensed sites will have to pay a 15% consumption tax.

Previous amendments presented to the House of Lords included a prevision that would enforce up to 10 years prison time for poker players found cheating at the table.
