One of the reasons online gambling is not witnessing much of a decline during this troubling economic downturn: It is an entertainment which can be a lot cheaper than going out to a restaurant or to the pub.  This according to David Lovejay, CEO of Orbis, a leading online gambling platform that has among its clients Paddy Power, Ladbrokes and William Hill.

"Instead of booking a table or buying several rounds of drinks the customer can order in a pizza and spend a few exciting hours in front of the computer.

So all in all, online gaming is an activity which should hold up well under the pressure of tightening belts and the new era of austerity and frugality.

It can be an inexpensive means of enjoyment to escape from the gathering clouds of the downturn."

Lovejay also observes that the typical online gamer is someone who uses the internet for many other types of transactions, such as online banking, purchases of electrical goods, books from Amazon and home deliveries of groceries.
