No Need to Panic Over Daily Fantasy Sports Congressional Scrutiny Says Expert

An industry expert laughed off concerns over efforts by New Jersey Congressman Frank Pallone’s attempt to study Daily Fantasy Sports and their relationship to the four professional leagues.

Joe Brennan, Jr., an industry expert who himself will be launching a new DFS site based in London, England, Fast Fantasy, pointed to efforts by certain politicians to stop legalized online poker in the U.S.

Brennan, Jr. tweeted last week:

Everyone losing it over Congress' hearing on DFS, some perspective: all those hearings on i-poker & online gaming? 9 years & no law. (Yet.)

And to bring home his point, separate legislation proposed in 2012 by Pallone, a Democrat, and Rep. Frank LoBiondo, a New Jersey Republican, to allow the expansion of sports gambling outside Nevada has been stuck in committee.

"It's been a gradual process, but I think this is going to put them on the spot if we have this hearing," Pallone said, referring to the pro leagues.

As Gambling911.com noted last week, Pallone may have a hidden agenda in pushing for such a Committee review.  The leagues have been fighting New Jersey to prevent the state from offering legalized online sports wagering.
