The popular South Korean TV personality and singer Shin Jun-Hwan is wanted for his alleged habitual gambling overseas, prosecutors announced on Thursday.  He is said to be in violation of the nation’s foreign exchange trade act and the passport act.

``The nature of his crime is very bad given his actions in hiding away and gambling away a large amount of money overseas,’’ said a prosecutor in charge of the matter.

Shin allegedly gambled some 200 million ($180,000) won at casinos in the Philippines late last year and also lost his passport.  He was arrested in the Philippines at the time and faked hospitalization, according to reports, claiming to have had dengue fever.  Shin returned to South Korea and faced questioning in January.

‎Now the Seoul Central Prosecutors Office has issued an arrest warrant against the famous television personality following nearly eight hours of interrogation earlier in the week.

Shin is currently is a permanent member on KBS’s Sang Sang Plus, Unforgettable Songs, part of KBS's Happy Sunday line-up, and Radio Star, part of  MBC’s Golden Fishery line-up.
