Delaware’s Foray Into Online Gambling Arena: Casinos Don’t Have a Clue

Three states entered the world of real money online gambling last year – Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware.  Nevada was first, New Jersey has proven the most successful and tiny Delaware, well…..

Nobody seems to have any idea how well the industry will be doing and none of the casinos offering online gambling have seen one dime as of yet.

“We’re not sure how much revenue this is going to produce,” Dover Downs Hotel & Casino CEO Ed Sutor said last year.

From the News-Journal:

Internet gambling in Delaware brought in a mere $253,000 during November and December. If that trend continues, it will put the state well short of its goal to generate $5 million in revenue during the first year.

Delaware’s population is under 1 million people compared to New Jersey’s nearly 9 million.
