 Bellagio Chip Bandit

A preliminary hearing for Anthony M. Carleo has been suspended until next month.  Carleo is charged with a brazen $1.5 million armed chip robbery at the Bellagio Hotel in December.

Defense attorney Bill Terry was granted time to speak with an informant who was at several alleged meetings that took place between Carleo and an undercover Las Vegas Metro police officer.

Carleo was arrested on February 3 after attempting to sell the stolen chips to the undercover officer.

The informant has not been identified.  Three other witnesses were also brought in at today’s preliminary hearing.

Carleo, the son of a Las Vegas Municipal Judge, has had two additional charges lodged against him as well as an enhanced charge of robbing a person over the age of 60.

He is currently being held at a detention center unless he can post a million dollars bail.  Should the bail be posted, Carleo would be placed under house arrest.
