2015-16 Projections and Expectations

Mike Leach will never find the success in the Pac-12 that he had in the Big 12 with Texas Tech, and it is as simple as that. You would think in a pass happy league like the Pac-12, that an offensive mind like his would have plenty of success in recruiting in the Northwest, but Luke Falk is not Connor Halliday, and he still has a lot to prove at the college level.

A veteran offensive line will ease the transition for the most part, and we find it hard to believe that a Mike Leach offense plans on running the ball more often than we have ever seen in his 13 years as head coach. An opening game against Portland State should be easy enough to get by, but non-conference games with Wyoming and Rutgers will provide tough tests as the Cougars enter conference play.

Road games at Rutgers, California, Oregon, Arizona, UCLA and in-state rival Washington will likely see the Cougars underdogs in all six games. Washington State lost at home as 11 point favorites to Rutgers a year ago. We will predict a five-win season in Pullman this season, which will obviously see them fall a bit short for a bowl bid, and we will see how that affects the job security for Mike Leach entering 2016.
