Packers Lose Jordy Nelson for Season: Odds to Win 2016 Super Bowl at 7-1

The Packers were still favorites to win the 2016 Super Bowl but those odds got longer by a point (7-1, down from 6-1 earlier Sunday) on news that Jordy Nelson will miss the entire season.

The Packers organization has confirmed that Nelson suffered a season ending knee injury.  Sources close to ESPN advised Nelson tore an ACL.

"It was determined that WR Jordy Nelson sustained a significant right knee injury in yesterday's game at Pittsburgh," the Packers said in a statement. "He will miss the remainder of the season."

"You can't understand how something like that can happen on a play as simple as it was, but that's life in the NFL sometimes," Packers general manager Ted Thompson told Green Bay radio station WNFL on Monday.

"It's difficult to lose a guy like that in a meaningless game," quarterback Aaron Rodgers said after the game.

Nelson led the Packers last season with 98 catches for 1,519 yards and 13 touchdowns.

10 percent of Super Bowl futures were placed on Green Bay to win while nearly Nelson is reportedly owned by nearly a quarter of regular season Fantasy players.
