The loss for Ohio State was no fluke as their soft defense was exposed by the power game of the physical Spartans who went on to win the Rose Bowl.
Ohio State will enter the 2014 season replacing half of their starting lineup but head coach Urban Meyer has recruited well so the Ohio State Buckeyes are expected to reload instead of rebuild.
That being said, there is plenty of skepticism about their ability to make the BCS Final Four national playoff that begins this season.

Braxton will be sidelined by injury for the 2014 season and Hyde is gone as well leaving the Buck Eyes in dire need of play-makers. Also gone are four starters from the offensive line. Braxton Miller's replacement may have to do a lot of running around to avoid pressure. To add to that, the skill positions also will rely on freshmen Curtis Samuel and Johnnie Dixon along with Ezekiel Elliott, Dontre Wilson. A couple of veteran wideouts Devin Smith and Evan Spencer will have to provide leadership.
2014 Ohio State Buckeyes Defense: The Ohio State Buckeyes have a very good defense line led by senior Michael Bennett. He is joined up front by Adolphus Washington, Joey Bosa and Noah Spence. The linebackers are Joshua Perry, Darron Lee and Curtis Grant. Also seeing playing time will be Raekwon McMillan. The secondary is led by Doran Grant who could be a first round pick down the road in the NFL Draft. He will get help from Armani Reeves and Gareon Conley along with safeties Tyvis Powell and either Vonn Bell or Cam Burrows.
2014 Ohio State Buckeyes Outlook: The Ohio State Buckeyes have a lot of young talented players but there are some definite concerns in terms of experience and in terms of depth. It all comes down to how well Miller plays. If he plays like a Heisman contender then this team could challenge for the national title in 2014.
