2015-16 Projections and Expectations

Naturally, the expectation will rise for the Big Blue this year, with the dumping of Brady Hoke for an actual coach who has a proven track record of winning at both the NCAA and NFL level. Despite whatever went down at San Francisco for Harbaugh, he will not likely be listening to the likes of Deion Sanders, who was among the analysts dragging the coach’s name in the mud and ranting on about how he is not a player’s coach, because of the level of professionalism he expects from his team on and off the field.

Jim Harbaugh certainly wants to be recognized as an old school coach, and Michigan is undoubtedly a high-profile job where he can utilize his assets and do things his own way. Getting 18-22 year old kids motivated to play on a big stage in the upper mid-west's Big Ten Conference, should provide the perfect place setting for Harbaugh to revive one of the most recognizable schools and football programs in the United States.

There is no Appalachian State on the schedule this year, as the Wolverines will start the season with four west coast-based teams. With a non-conference schedule consisting of Utah on the road, and three home games against Oregon State, UNLV and BYU to start the campaign, Michigan will need to get off to a 3 - 1 start to build any momentum for Conference play. With that said, everything comes down to the results of the eight games against familiar opponents in the Big Ten in the long run. With Ohio State and Michigan State at home being seen as a good thing, win or not, that will still leave Michigan with some winnable conference games to make their way to a post-season appearance in a Bowl.

Seven wins has to be the outlook from most destinations among the social media forecasters, and there is certainly now an expectation on this team, with a plethora of NFL veterans on the coaching staff and a leader in Jim Harbaugh, who will drive his dedication into Michigan football.Anything above the seven-win mark would surely be seen as a huge turn around, so it will be an all-in scenario in camp, and a new era for Big Blue.We may not be as generous however, and a 6 - 6 season is about the best we can see from this team, even with the heavy NFL influence on the coaching staff.
