Lions Super Bowl Odds 2013 at 45-1: Five New Starters on Defense

The Lions Super Bowl odds for 2013 were listed at 45-1 at Bookmaker.

They better be good.  Detroit just handed starting quarterback Matthew Stafford a 3-year $150.5 million contract.

Sports bettors will not want to overlook the addition of Reggie Bush and what should most likely be a vastly improved run game.

Still, there are real concerns with the defense as Detroit will have five new starters entering 2013.

This is a Lions team that went 4-12 last season after 10-6 the year before.  And it’s not as if they had any serious injuries in 2012.  Detroit kept intact much of the team it had from the year prior.

Deadspin.com is not exactly high on Detroit’s head coach, Jim Schwartz.

If there is an obscure rule out there that can hurt your team, you can rest assured that Jim Schwartz will find a way to be victimized by it. Jim Schwartz has taken a fairly talented roster and added nothing to it. I think his boilerplate pregame speech is, "Guys, go out there and, like, do your thing."

It's as if they studied game tape of all the ways the Raiders lose and put them into practice. The Lions commit 80 penalties a game and NEVER run the ball. You will find more discipline in the Detroit mayor's office than at a Lions home game. What hope do the Lions have when Jim Harbaugh blows right through your coach on your home field?
