Gatorade Prop Bet Super Bowl 2014 – Orange Seeing Half the Action

At the end of each Super Bowl, a bucket of Gatorade is poured upon the winning team’s head coach.  This is commonly referred to as the “Gatorade Bath” or “Gatorade Shower”.

It was a tradition started back in October 28, 1985, when New York Giants player Jim Burt performed the action on Bill Parcells after being angered over the coach's treatment of him that week.  Burt insisted that Harry Carson be the one to dump the Gatorade on Parcells, because he was a favorite and wouldn't get in trouble.

Former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Dan Hampton has also taken credit for inventing the Gatorade Bath in 1984 after dunking then head coach Mike Ditka.

Nevertheless, the phenomenon truly took off in 1986 after Giants coach Parcells was once again doused with Gatorade following 17 victories that season that culminated with a Super Bowl victory.

Though Clear or Water is the 3/1 favorite at Bookmaker, orange is seeing nearly half the betting action at slightly longer than 3/1 odds (+325).  The theory here is that orange represents part of the Denver Broncos color scheme.

Blue, which would pay out $1239 on a $100 bet or $124 on a $10 bet, definitely has some value this year should Seattle walk away with the big win as this is part of their color scheme. 15 percent of those putting money down on this Gatorade prop bet were backing blue.

Yellow pays just under 5-1 odds, red pays 8/1 and green pays 5-1.
