Both teams come into this Bowl game with identical 9-3 Straight Up records and 7-5 Against The Spread records.  The two schools finished especially strong with Louisville winning seven of their last nine.  They lost a relatively close one in Clemson while dropping another to undefeated FSU.  Georgia lost two of its last eight games, one versus Georgia Tech in overtime.

This is the first time in the Belk Bowl’s 13 year history that it will play host to two top 20 ranked teams.

ESPN.com observed:

Georgia fans shouldn’t have any difficulty getting up for this one. The Bulldogs and Cardinals have never met, but Louisville defensive coordinator Todd Grantham joined Bobby Petrino’s staff this season after four years at UGA -- the last of which was a disaster on defense. And Petrino is hardly well-liked in the Peach State, either, after abandoning the Atlanta Falcons in the middle of the 2007 season.

The Bulldogs are 10-2 Against The Spread in their last 12 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game and 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 vs. ACC.

The Cardinals are 6-2 Against The Spread vs. a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Bowl games.  They are also 4-1 ATS vs. the SEC.

Action on this game was balanced.
