The Detroit Lions rise slightly on the Sagarin Ratings from No. 9 to No. 8 and promised a payout of $1900 should they go on to win the 2024 Super Bowl.  Detroit has been profitable for bettors this season coming into Week 17, going 10-5 Against The Spread.

There is some indication - not affirming though - that the books like Detroit in their Week 17 lone Saturday game in Dallas.

Winners and Whiners provides some possible insight as to why, while noting how solid the Cowboys have been at home:

"The Lions, however, do something that the Cowboys have had trouble against all season; run the football. The Cowboys are just 18th in the NFL stopping the run and the Lions possess a two-headed monster in the backfield of Gibbs and Montgomery."

The line has moved between the -6 and -5.5 for Dallas, but we've seen sharp books like Circa dip as low as -4.5.  As of Saturday morning the line was at -5.5 most books, which is not entirely as convincing of an opinion.

The Lions aren't bothered by the road either as they've gone 5-2 Straight Up this season.

The Lions (10-4 Straight Up and 9-5 Against The Spread) were one win away from their first division title in 30 years.  First they'll need to get past the Minnesota Vikings, who undoubtedly have other things in mind.

Around 70% of the public liked Detroit here, per AcePerHead internal data, available only at Gambling911.com.

“The more you win, the more the pressure goes up,” coach Dan Campbell said. “When we’re at our best is when you have people gunning for you.”

And the Lions haven't won in Minnesota in six years.

The Vikings are also in contention at 7-7 with a 7-4-3 record Against The Spread.

We get a number of Detroit 0.02, thus indicating an overlay of around 2.5 to 3.  Overlays when the line is 2.5/3 without going above the 3 tend to do pretty well for the favorite, albeit not entirely convincing at 66% in our sampling.

Players to watch include Detroit's TE Sam LaPorta had a season-high three TD catches last week. The rookie from Iowa and WR Odell Beckham Jr. are the only players in history with at least 70 catches.

Minnesota's TE T.J. Hockenson needs nine receptions to reach 100 and 98 yards to reach 1,000.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff will need to be concerned about the Vikings blitz as that team's defensive coordinator Brian Flores calls the most blitzes in the league. In fact, the Vikings have sent five or more rushers at opponents on 49.6% of pass plays, according to Sportradar data. Goff has thrown five interceptions when blitzed this season, per Sportradar, the second most in the NFL.

Xavier Worthy = Tyreek Hill 2.0?  Perhaps, and if that comes to fruition at any point in the future, the Bills only have themselves to blame.

J.J. McCarthy Drafted Number 3 Odds to Patriots

To be clear, the Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is pretty certain to land in Minnesota.  But what if the New England Patriots shock us and pick McCarthy at Number 3 before the Vikings get their opportunity at No. 5?
