In a huge industry move Monday, Cake Poker has announced a rebranding to WinCake.com along with news that it will begin offering sports betting, a web browsing format, and a $2 million jackpot casino.

Bwin.party Snatches Up PokerStars Exec Jeffrey Haas

eGaming Review Magazine is reporting that Bwin.party Head of Online Poker Chris Welch will be leaving next month and that his replacement is Jeffrey Haas, an executive from PokerStars, the world’s largest real money Web poker firm.

M Resort Poker Room Closes in Vegas

The M Resort, operated by Penn National, closed its poker room over the weekend after struggling against stiff completion.

The establishment recently hosted the Hollywood Poker Open.

According to USPoker.com, the M Resort typically only hosted one or two cash games on Saturday nights.

Player comps can be redeemed using the iMagine Rewards card anywhere at the resort.

Nevada Gaming Revenue Down Nearly 5 Percent in June

CARSON CITY, Nev. — (Associated Press) - State officials say Nevada gambling revenues went down 4.8 percent in June compared with a year earlier.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board released statistics Friday showing casinos won $792 million in June, down from $833 million in June 2012.

Las Vegas Strip winnings of $435 million were down 10 percent year-over-year.

But the situation was the opposite a little further down the road: Downtown Las Vegas winnings of $37 million were up 9 percent.

Las Vegas Sands Wants Second Jury Verdict Thrown Out

LAS VEGAS — (Associated Press) - Las Vegas Sands Corp. asked a Nevada judge Tuesday to throw out a second jury verdict awarding a former consultant a $70 million settlement in a breach-of-contract case.

Attorneys for the largest U.S. casino company presented 12 reasons a district judge should grant a second retrial.

The payroll company ADP says companies hired in July at the fastest pace since December.

Bwin.Party Share Price Rises on Hopes of Company Split

Bwin.Party shares shot up Tuesday on news that the online gambling firm is considering a split.

More specifically, the Financial Times reported that Bwin.party was “working on a plan to spin off its unregulated operations into a separate company.”

Bwin.party is looking to aggressively take on the US market.  They have already inked a deal with Boyd Gaming to run Atlantic City’s Borgata’s online poker site.

Bwin.party stock rose 3.9 percent on Tuesday to close at 135.9p.  This is the firm’s best performance in nearly three months.

Chow to Take on Macau With T-Rex, Gladiators

(Reuters) - Macau tycoon David Chow is ripping up the fake volcano and Roman amphitheatre that were the show pieces of a failed theme park he built in the Chinese gaming enclave seven years ago.

He is replacing them with something a little less kitsch and more in keeping with the neighbourhood: a casino resort boasting an opera house and dinosaur museum that he hopes will return him to the spotlight of the world's largest gambling hub.

Judge Won't Toss $70M Jury Award Against Sands

(Associated Press) - A Hong Kong businessman is one step closer to collecting a multibillion-dollar award from Las Vegas Sands Corp., the largest U.S. casino company.

A Nevada judge on Tuesday denied Sands' request to throw out a jury verdict awarding former consultant Richard Suen $70 million in a breach-of-contract case.

Sands presented 12 reasons the company should be granted a retrial.

A total of 37 online gambling companies have applied to serve the Garden State and its nearly 9 million people.

Revel Atlantic City Poker Room to Shut Down in Next Two Weeks

The financially strapped Revel Casino in Atlantic City is ready to close its poker room.

Caesars' 2Q Misses Expectations

LAS VEGAS (Associated Press) — Casino operator Caesars Entertainment Corp. posted a smaller loss for its fiscal first quarter on Monday, but results still missed expectations as slots and tables drew fewer gamblers.

Caesars owns or manages more than 50 casinos, most of them in the U.S. and Britain.

The company saw casino revenues decline by $116.8 million, or 7.5 percent. CEO Gary Loveman said food and beverage sales may ultimately replace those dollars.

Wynn Macau Q2 Revenues Not Entirely Impressive

LAS VEGAS — (Associated Press) - Wynn Resorts Ltd. said Monday that it made less money than expected in the Chinese gambling enclave of Macau, and its second quarter missed analysts' forecasts.

Excluding special items, Wynn made $1.51 per share on revenue of $1.33 billion in the latest quarter.

Analysts polled by FactSet forecast, on average, earnings of $1.57 per share on revenue of $1.34 billion
