For many a gambler, betting on the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest offers a nice reprieve from what is typically a slow wagering season.   The problem is that it's almost impossible to bet the winner as Joey Chestnut will be priced out of range to offer even the most remote value.  Enter our good friends at BetUS.  They are offering odds on the men's winner of the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest without including Chestnut.

Who to Bet on - Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest Minus Joey

Geoffrey Esper pays out $25 on a $10 bet

Nick Wehry pays $35

Darron Breedon pays $55

Gideon Oji pays $80

Esper was last year's second place finisher, so there is certainly some good value betting him to win without Chestnut in the field.

By comparison, Esper ate a mere 51 hot dogs to tie his personal best.

"I think I have a shot of hitting my goal in getting second place," he said ahead of last year's Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. "We'll see how I do. If I have a good day. I'm going to be well rested up because my last practice was on Wednesday. So I'm going to have quite a few days to rest up. I'll go in empty and hungry and do my best."

In 2019, Esper finished third in the contest, wolfing down just 47 hot dogs.

Chestnut is the GOAT

In 2020, Chestnut set a new world record by eating 75 hot dogs in 10 minutes. Last year, Chestnut broke his own record by chowing down 76.

Despite the lack of value in betting Chestnut to win the competition, you can still bet the OVER/UNDER number of hot dogs he will chow down. BetUS has the total number of hot dogs eaten by the winner (presumably Chestnut) set at 76.5.   The Over pays out $20 on a $10 bet.

The 38-year-old from Westfield, Indiana is sometimes referred to as "Jaws".  We wonder why.

Chestnut's training regimen ahead of the competition includes fasting and stretching his stomach with milk, water and protein supplements.

The contest takes place July 4 starting after 10 am ET.
