Gamecocks Women's Basketball

South Carolina women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley earned National Coach of the Year honors from the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

Her Gamecocks are the odds-on favorites to win the 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.

No. 1 seed South Carolina finished the regular season unblemished and went on to sweep the competition in the SEC Tournament to claim their eighth SEC Women's Basketball Tournament Championship.

“Last year was more like Groundhog’s Day,” Staley said. “You get through the regular season to get to the Final Four and championship, because they knew what they had to do. This team, they just start over every day. Every day is something new. Every day they work hard. Every day they just figure it out. “And it’s kind of a scary-but-cool dynamic.”
