As a bookie, chances are good you got slaughtered last week.  It's not your fault.  The best of the best all had a rough Sunday, only making some of it back with the Chiefs-Jets night game.  So don't blame the Pay Per Head oddsmakers.  Everyone lost!  Except for the players.

Bears @ Commanders

The odds of a team starting the season 0-5 Against The Spread as could happen with Washington this evening are relatively low.

When the books were seeing low volume with 60% of spread action on the Commanders they did drop the number from -7 to -6.5. That number fell further to -5.5 with more action coming in and that resulted in around 58% of the action on Washington.

By late Wednesday with nearly $300K backing the Commanders (better than 75% of the action at this point), books began moving the number back up to -6.

As of Thursday most books had moved the number back up to -6.5 with around 70% of the action and $500K in on the Commanders compared to just over $200K on the Bears.

Now let's examine a few of our favorite books to uncover any opinion. Pinnacle, the sharpest of the sharp, was still at Washington -6 as of 1:20 pm ET.  Our friends at Bookmaker began moving the number up to 6.5 during the morning Thursday. Circa was still sitting on the 6.  BetOnline was sitting on the 6.  Recreational books Bovada we'd expect to start responding to the action and they were on the 6 as well.  DraftKings had not moved up off the 6 YET.

Sagarin gives us a line of Washington -4.5.

Let's be clear, we hate backing the Bears, but the indicators are flashing that Chicago at least covers here
