There has been some confusion in regard to Barstool Sportsbook notifying customers that "Open wagers placed prior to July 10, 2023 will not be eligible for cash out following the re-launch".

As a quick recap, Barstool Sportsbook has shut down its website for at least the next 72 hours while undergoing some pretty serious maintenance.  They're basically getting rid of their current software provider, Kambi, and will now be using proprietary software.  This is almost certain to provide an overall better experience for the customer.

A cash out, we can clarify, is similar to a buy out and is a feature that allows sports bettors the ability to settle a bet — and accept a payout less than the full potential win — before the competition ends.

So a cashout is simply an early request for funds.  Think cashing your 401(k) out early where you are not entitled to the same value that takes place at maturity.

Barstool Sportsbook customer service is still available during the downtime to answer any concerns.  Obviously a lot of folks will be looking to wager on Tuesday's MLB All Star Game and might not realize they can't access the Barstool Sportsbook website or app.

"Any bet will still be paid out in a normal fashion post the maintenance period," Barstool Sports customer service confirmed.

They also confirmed via Twitter: "Hi, we wanted to clear up any confusion. The Barstool Sportsbook & Casino will honor all wagers placed prior to our maintenance period. However, open wagers that were placed prior to July 10, 2023, will not have a Cash Out option after the maintenance period ends."

In other words, if you have, say, World Series futures bets, these will be honored.
