Unibet the Latest to Exit AZ Sports Betting Market

PHOENIX, AZ (Gambling911.com) - With Unibet confirming their departure from the U.S. sports betting landscape, this will mark the second sports betting company to close shop for Arizona bettors.  WynnBet shut off its app over the summer.

Unibet with its measly handle of just $15,639,186, or .127% of the state’s total handle, across 25 months of operation will wind down operations by the end of the second quarter in 2024.  Unibet's extended downtime was well documented on the pages of Gambling911.com.

“In the most recent September revenue figures released by the ADG, Arizona had just over $600 million in handle. Unibet had just under $600,000 of that handle or less than one-tenth of 1% of the total market handle,” Daniel McIntosh, Associated Professor at Arizona University, tells BetArizona. “The picture gets bleaker when you factor in payouts to winning bets which results in a net revenue from wagering of just about $34,000. That’s simply not a sustainable market share and very likely doesn’t cover their costs, although that’s speculative.”

It's not as if sports bettors will take much notice.  There are 16 regulated sportsbook apps serving the state.  This number does not even include the vast number of offshore sportsbooks and Pay Per Head bookie operations still available to those in Arizona.

Suns Catch Grizzlies Off of First Two-Win Streak and Past Night's Play

PHOENIX, AZ (Gambling911.com) - Do the Phoenix Suns take last night's home loss against the Nuggets out on Memphis Saturday night?

The 5-13 Grizzlies have won two straight for the first time this season.  Their Friday night victory comes as a bit of a surprise considering it was on the road in Dallas.  Now they head to Phoenix to face a Suns team that's lost two in a row including 119-111 where they were the -2 point home favorites.

Phoenix is 2-2 Against The Spread vs. Memphis using the current -9 number.  We get a number of 7.18 so this represents just a 2-point overlay.

Despite not having Bradley Beal and Devin Booker for this one but they still should have Kevin Durant in this contest while the Grizzlies are still mighty banged up and played their hearts out Friday night.

It's hard not to back Phoenix here.
