Aaron Rodgers unloaded on Broncos head coach Sean Payton.

"I thought it was way out of line, inappropriate, and I think he needs to keep my coach's name out of his mouth." Rodgers also suggests Payton's comments were a way of providing an excuse in case Denver can't improve.

Those comments Payton made per a USA Today interview were in reference to Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who served as head coach of the Broncos last season.

He described his predecessor as having done "one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL" and said there were "20 dirty hands" around quarterback Russell Wilson's career-worst season that included 16 touchdown passes and a league-high 55 sacks.

Payton also referred to the Jets as a team with all "pomp and circumstance" while hinting that the Jets were a "dream team" that is doomed to failure.

Of course this tit for tat has us all marking our calendars for October 8.  That's when the Jets are set to take to the field in Denver.

With the acquisition of Rodgers, the Jets currently held the 7th shortest odds to win the Super Bowl while Denver sat midway among the pack.

BetUS has Denver winning 8.5 regular season games and New York winning OVER 9.5.

Both teams should see improvements with New York significantly higher expectations with Rodgers at the helm.

Using last year's power ratings, the line on the October 8 game would be Denver -3.  The Broncos rating would likely only improve by a point while New York's would jump as much as three points.  Denver would likely still be a -1 to -1.5 home favorite by the time this one rolls around.
