Robbie Lawler was coming in as a +212 underdog vs. Colby Covington -252 Saturday August 3 for UFC Newark.

Bets for this fight had to be in prior to 3 pm ET.

Covington’s manager Dan Lambert explained the significance of UFC Newark’s main event while appearing on BJPenn.com.

“Once you get to where Colby is, every fight is uber important to win, but this one is super important for his career. If he wins, he is right there for a title shot. If he loses, he is down a few notches. This is not a very forgiving sport when it comes to wins or losses so this is huge for Colby.”

But Covington has been promised this in the past.

He added: “Colby wanted a title shot. I don’t think he cared if it is [Kamaru] Usman, [Tyron Woodley], it didn’t matter. He wanted a title shot before anything.  They said if he wins this he is getting a title shot but they have said that before.”

The granddaddies of fights follow.

Stipe Miocic vs. Daniel Cormier will be the headliner of UFC 241 with Miocic +119 and Cormier -139.  This fight takes place August 17.

Mark your calendars for September 7.  Not only is College Football and the NFL just starting to get underway, UFC 242 will feature the blockbuster - albiet a bit lopsided - bout of Dustin Poirier +290 vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov -355.

One week later, it’s the much anticipated ESPN 16 fight: Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone vs. Justin Gaethje.

Jack Cosby of CBS Sports writes:

This will be a main event fight you won't want to miss in Vancouver during a year in which UFC has already given us some of the best fights in recent memory. The violence will be aplenty from start to finish, and likely depending on the outcome, Cerrone could even have saved himself some wiggle room to compete for a fifth time before the year comes to a close.

Cerrone is at +185 and Gaethje -220.

Somewhere in the mix will be Conor McGregor.  Whomever he takes on, that fight will be a doozy.
