In a week, the presumed favorite for Virginia’s pivotal gubernatorial election Tuesday has lost that position.

SportsBetting.ag, a website that offers political wagering, listed Terry McAuliffe as a -300 favorite on October 24 (Republicans had +240 odds at that time and as high as +850 two months ago). However, a windfall of bets on Republican underdog Glenn Youngkin has even the odds as of Monday.

VIRGINIA GOVERNOR

Terry McAuliffe -120

Glenn Youngkin -120

The above odds essentially equate to a “tossup” in gambling speak. SportsBetting.ag political analyst Paul Krishnamurty believes McAuliffe will ultimately win.

Krishnamurty points to the 2017 election, in which then-candidate Northam held a 3.3 percent polling lead, but went on to win by nearly nine percent.

That said, the odds for margin of victory have dropped from 5% to 1%.

In the New Jersey Governor race,

NEW JERSEY GOVERNOR

Phil Murphy -3300

Jack Ciattarelli +900

The over/under odds for margin of victory is 10%.

The New York City Mayor race appears to be a forgone conclusion. Krishnamurty said, “Adams was surprisingly weak in the betting markets all year.”

NEW YORK CITY MAYOR

Eric Adams -10000

Curtis Silwa +3300

The over/under odds for margin of victory is 44.5%.

In Seattle, Bruce Harrell has improved his position, according to the odds and bettors, as his odds have gone from -600 on Friday to -800 currently.

SEATTLE MAYOR

Bruce Harrell -800

Lorena Gonzalez +425

“Gonzalez was the odds-on favorite at one stage, but we’ve seen steady support for Harrell since it became a runoff. However, we’re still seeing money for both sides.”

BOSTON MAYOR

Michelle Wu -10000

Annissa Essaibi George +2000

BUFFALO MAYOR

Byron Brown -900

India Walton +500

“This has been a surprisingly popular betting heat, with the odds flipping. Brown is a four-term incumbent, but he is running as a write-in candidate after Walton won the Democrat primary. She was the favorite until the final week, but we’ve since seen a steady stream of bets for Brown.”

ATLANTA MAYOR

Felicia Moore -300

Kasim Reed +200

Andre Dickens +1600

“Reed, a former Mayor, was hot favorite to replace Keisha Lance Bottoms, but the betting momentum has moved strongly to Moore.”
