It's never a good thing when the favorite to win a golf tournament appears to be on the way to doing just that.  Such is the case with Rory McIlroy.  He pays $1000 on a $100 bet and was leading heading into the final hours Sunday.

It's not a guarantee. McIlroy was tied with Viktor Hovland heading into Sunday.  And while Hovland will pay $4500 on a $100 bet, he's not going to have a significant number backing him at those opening odds.

Cameron Young was also gaining steam and had moved ahead of Hovland by late Sunday morning.  Young would pay out $9500 for every $100 bet.

McIlroy has not won a major in eight years but he has finished among the top 11 golfers in the world over those last eight years.

“The more people bring up the result, the more I’m just going to harp on about the process and sticking to my game plan, because that’s the only thing I can do," he said.  "I’ve done that well for the last three days. It’s put me in this position. I just need to do it for one more day.”
