Padres vs. Giants Series Betting Preview (May 7, 2021)

The Padres are 13-5 over the last 18 games of this series.  Only two of those Giants games were won at home.

Padres vs. Giants Pitching (May 7, 2021)

Friday's game, with the Giants Anthony DeSclafani coming off a loss following a shutout his previous start, and the prospect of Blake Snell due for a poor start doesn't bode as well for a Padres win.

Friday

Blake Snell SD (1-0, 3.51)

  • Snell allowed two runs -- one earned -- on Saturday over five innings in a win over the Giants.  This was his third consecutive start where he went at least five innings, giving up no more than two runs.  Heading into Friday's start, the likelihood of Snell making it 4 consecutive is a shakey proposition.

Anthony DeSclafani SF (2-1, 2.00)

  • DeSclafani allowed three runs in six innings on Saturday in a loss to the Padres.  This one followed a three-hit shutout.

Saturday

Joe Musgrove SD (2-3, 2.38) - Musgrove is definitely due for a good outing.  Whether it is this game or not remains to be seen.

  • Musgrove allowed six runs (five earned) on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts over five innings in a loss against the Giants on May 2.
  • Musgrove wasn't at his best in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits and a pair of walks in only three innings of work April 25.

Kevin Gausman SF (2-0, 2.04) - Gausman has been dealing with the side effects from the Covid 19 vaccine.

  • Kevin Gausman struck out six batters over six innings with one run allowed on one hit and one walk in a 7-1 win over the Padres May 2.
