Status of Sports Betting in Ohio

Lawmakers are mulling over sports betting opportunities in, not just casino venues, but bars and even convenience stores.  Whethere this occurs in time for the 2018 Football season remains to be seen. Chairman of Open Ohio, Rick Lertzman, said he would like to see a proposal on the ballot as early as November 2019.

The Ohio Lottery and Casino Control commissions are deferring for guidance to the governor and other state lawmakers.

Current Ohio Law for Sports Betting

There are no laws currently prohibiting sports betting in the state. Sports betting online is available from internationally licensed wagering firms.
