Speaking at last month's first ever Betting Sports America conference in New Jersey, gaming attorney Dan Wallach spoke glowingly of the New Hampshire sports betting model, suggesting that retail non-gambling businesses the likes of Buffalo Wild Wings could have a path to entry.

On Friday (May 10, 2019) it was revealed that the New Hampshire bill could have a clear path to passage after one state senator decided to take a step back.

Sen. Lou D’Allesandro wanted to attach casino expansion language to the current bill that would most certainly have ensured it would be dead on arrival.

The Senate is expected to pass the bill later next week.

“I’m willing to say the House sports betting bill is going to pass in the Senate,” D’Allesandro told Legal Sports Report. “It may not look like the sports betting bill we saw come over, but I think it’s going to pass.”

NH Gov. Chris Sununu does back legalized sports wagering in the state.

New Hampshire's sports betting sector would be overseen by the state's lottery commission. Mobile and retail will be permitted under the new law.

Enter Buffalo Wild Wings:  This legislation is a first of its kind in the US as it would allow a retail sports book to be co-located with another commercial business, such as a bar or resort.

The state currently has no casino infrastructure but last week, the New Hampshire Senate voted to allow two casinos to operate in the state.
