bet365.com employs 812 people.
The turnover - which is the value of all bets placed over the period - produced profits of £36 million for Bet365. The company is creating more jobs on the back of the growth, the Sentinel reports.

It marks a phenomenal rise for the business - run by Stoke City chairman Peter Coates, - and it has been named Britain's 16th biggest private company.

Chief operating officer Denise Coates said the firm has enjoyed more success during the Euro 2008 football tournament - even though England did not qualify for the finals.

She said: "We have been very fortunate to experience substantial growth every year since our launch in 2000, and last year was just another year where this was achieved.

"The great challenge for us is to make sure the growth continues.

"The fact that England didn't qualify for the European Championships was less of an issue for us as the majority of our business comes from overseas customers.

"In any event, for those customers in the UK, having football on terrestrial television was a great boost with audiences of over 10 million.

"We promote betting as a leisure activity adding a bit of excitement to the sporting experience.

"We launched our first television advertising campaign in the UK during the championships, trying out new technology which allows us to show live odds during half time."
