It doesn't appear Jim Harbaugh's silly little suspensions have made him fall out of favor with the American football public...at least on Twitter anyway.

According to recent data from X, which was compiled by the marketing team at BetOnline.ag, Michigan is the overwhelming fan favorite nationwide as the College Football Playoff semifinals approach.

BetOnline.ag's results, which were derived from more than 250,000 tweets, hashtags and direct keyword phrases discussing which CFP team people are rooting for, showed that the top-seeded Wolverines enjoy the broadest support among the four schools.

The data was obtained by using a geotagging API program that collected and tallied up all of the rooting posts for each state. For example, official fan hashtags in each state such as #GoBlue (Michigan), #RollTide (Alabama), #HookEm (Texas) and #PurpleReign (Washington). Whichever team had the most rooting posts then "won" that state.

The line on the Alabama vs. Michigan game opened at Wolverines -2.5 and has dipped to as low as -1 throughout the course of the past two weeks.

The line on the Texas vs. Washington game had the Longhorns a -3.5 favorite with the line climbing as high as -4.5 leading up to this New Year's bowl game.

Texas: 4 states (New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas)

Alabama: 8 states (Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee)

Michigan: 35 states (all other states)
