Preakness Stakes wagering is in full swing and The 134th running of this derby will feature filly Rachel Alexander as odds on favorite (6/5). This super filly is coming off the most impressive Kentucky Oaks win ever, winning by over 20 lengths. Rachel Alexander has ran lights out all year posting triple digits buyers three straight races. Her competition in the Preakness Derby have all but thrown in the towel as most trainers think that she will win easily.

Rachel Alexander was recently sold to Jess Jackson's Stonestreet Stables and Harold T. McCormick for a reported $10 million. They purchased the filly with the goal of winning the last two legs of the triple crown. The owners have put up the $100,000 supplemental fee since she was not nominated for the triple crown races. The owners have moved Rachel Alexander to Steve Asmussen's training stable in hopes of winning both the final legs of the triple crown.
This super filly is seen as the best horse since Man O' War and the hype for this horse in the preakness is unheard of. A filly has not won the Preakness since 1924, in fact no filly has run in the race since 1999.
If the story was not good enough jockey Calvin Borrell of the Kentucky Derby winner Mine that Bird will jump to Rachel Alexander. In fairness to Borrell he had rode Rachel Alexander in all of her recent wins. Borrell has said that Rachel Alexander is the best horse he has ever rode, which is big since he has rode two Kentucky Derby Winners.
The future is bright for this filly and if she is good as we all think she is who knows what she will do for an encore. Owners have spread the rumors that if she runs well in the Preakness that she will start aiming for the Breeders Cup. Can you imagine Curlin vs Rachel Alexander?? Can't wait to see how this unfolds! Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
