The Global Poker League Alex Dreyfus Comes Under Fire - The Global Poker League’s Alex Dreyfus has come under fire, after Fedor Holz and two of his unidentified peers have questioned the entrepreneur’s accounting practices. Holz and members of the popular Two Plus Two posting forum agreed to a short-term transfer of US dollars to Dreyfus for a combined $30,000 this summer.   Dreyfus had reportedly told the high stakes players that he had reached his daily limits on transfers after spending $50,000 in just a few days on his new GPL studio setup.

CA Online Poker Bill Officially Dead - A bill that would have allowed Californians to legally play poker online lacked support from two-thirds of the state Assembly members and was not brought up for a vote on the last day of the legislative session.  With a market topping $1 billion in California alone, it is no surprise that competing gambling interests have failed to agree on who should get a piece of the pie, according to I. Nelson Rose, a law professor and gaming expert at Whittier Law School.  “For the operators, it’s high stakes,” Rose said. “If you are a local operator, you want to have the monopoly and you want to keep out real big money and experienced operators like Caesars or Amaya.”

73-Year-Old Biker Dies During Charity Poker Run - A charity “Poker Run” held by the Altamont American Legion Riders suffered a fatal motorcycle crash on Delaware Turnpike Saturday morning.  The victim was identified as an experienced 73-year-old motorcyclist, Charles Burchhardt. Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said that the crash occurred at 11:19 a.m. at the intersection of Route 43 and Cass Hill Road. Although the crash is still under investigation, Apple confirmed that speed wasn’t a factor. 

Judge Rules Against Gambling Regulators On Card Games - Florida gambling overseers were wrong to do away with a rule governing controversial “designated player” card games at pari-mutuel facilities without replacing the regulations, an administrative law judge said Friday.

Poker Pro Claims Fraud Case Against Him Racially Motivated: Wants to Depose US Attorney - World Series of Poker Circuit gold ring winner Travell Thomas says the government’s debt collection fraud case against him was racially motivated — and he wants a judge to let him depose Manhattan US Attorney Preet Bharara.  Thomas, who is black, will argue his case Monday before US District Judge Katherine Polk Failla in Manhattan.  Bharara’s prosecutors plan to oppose Thomas’ request, and have already slammed it in court papers as “rank speculation.”

Americas Cardroom Cracks Top 10 Online Poker Rooms in WorldPokerScout.com, the online poker traffic ranking website, shows that the Americas Cardroom home network, Winning Poker, has finally cracked the top 10 biggest Web poker rooms in the world.  The network is currently in a tight battle with both PokerStars Italian and Spanish pool sites and the iPoker Network, once among the largest in the world.  Winning Poker and Americas Cardroom have just introduced their Mac platform and plan to offer mobile poker by October or November.

Nevada Poker Room Revenue Best in 7 Years - Nevada’s poker rooms raked $16,137,000 during June, according to figures released this week by Silver State gaming regulators.   The rake was an increase of 1.88 percent year-over-year, compared to the $15,840,000 in rake from June 2015. The annual World Series of Poker runs during the entire month of June, which makes it the biggest month for cash games in Nevada poker rooms.
