2010 WSOP Field of 27: William Thorson, Mads Wissing, Hasan Habib
Gambling911.com has looked at the 2010 WSOP field of 18 up to this point. The 19th biggest chip leader coming into Saturday was the successful Swedish poker player William Thorson. He has won over $2 million in lifetime tournaments to date.
Thorson came in 1st at the Pokerstars.com Baltic Festival. In the 2006 World Series of Poker final, Thorson cashed out in 13th place and took home more than $900,000. He finishes in 22nd place at the 2010 World Series of Poker.
Raymond Lee represents the United Kingdom and is the 20th biggest chip leader. He is a relative unknown on the live poker circuit.
The 21st biggest chip leader if Mads Wissing of Denmark. He ended up cashing out at 25th.
The Danish player – who has been living in Spain for a few years now – plays mainly online poker, but breaks his routine a few times a year for live events, mainly those in the European Poker Tour, according to Poker News Daily.
In 2007, Wissing won the Party Poker $300,000 tournament twice as well as the Scandinavian Open in Copenhagen
Ronnie Bardah AKA "RoNasty" of Massachusetts has been on the poker scene for a number of years now but has cashed out in mostly small amounts. His total live poker tournament winnings in fact are a mere $100,000 plus despite having cashed out in 26 events. He just added over $300,000 with his 24th place elimination.
The 23rd biggest chip holder was Matthew Bucaric of Knoxville, Tennessee. He is an accountant and not very well known in the poker community coming into the main event. He crashed at 26th.
In the number 24 spot was Florida resident John Dolan, who has won $216,556 in live poker tournaments to date. He finished 6th at this year’s Event #36 - WSOP No Limit Hold'em and took home over $82,000.
Patrick Eskandar of Ladera Ranch, California, is a relative unknown when it comes to the live circuit. He was in the 25th spot coming into Saturday’s play.
US player Hasan Habib was clinging on for life at the last spot of the field of 27.
Habib is among the more successful players remaining, having won over $4 million in live tournament play to date.
Born in Karachi, Pakistan, Hassan Habib immigrated to the United States in 1980, having been the Pakistan 14-and-under National Tennis Champion. He won a WSOP bracelet in 2004 at the 35th Annual World Series of Poker.
