Over these next few days you will be seeing plenty of advertisements for TwinSpires.com, a US-based online horse racing site, even throughout the state of New Jersey.  Too bad you won't be able to bet there.

Because TwinSpires is based in the United States, they tend to abide by state regulations.

In the case of New Jersey, that state is protective of its own powerful horse racing sector.  New Jersey is also among the first states to launch online gambling sites that must be licensed by companies already conducting business in the Garden State.

TwinSpires had operated in the Garden State for a bit thanks to its acquisition of Bet America, but they were pretty quick to pull out in 2022.

It should be noted that there is another tremendous drawback to joining TwinSpires.com:  You’ll need to provide them with your social security number for IRS tax purposes, and not all folks feel comfortable disclosing their social security number over the Web to some horse betting site.
