Madden season is just around the corner. That means that we’re getting to see player ratings for Madden NFL 19. There were six rushers selected over Derrius Guice in this year’s draft. Madden NFL 19, however, has ranked him far higher.

EA Sports has published its ratings of the top five rookie running backs. The second-round pick of the Washington Redskins ranked second behind second-pick overall, Saquon Barkley. Guice was given a 78 rating. He had even more impressive numbers in running-back specific categories: trucking (91), carrying (91), juke (85), stiff arm (85), agility (93), and speed (85). By comparison, Barkley was given an overall rating of 82, a 91 juke, and 92 speed.

Rounding out the top five

The rest of the top five was made up of Nick Chubb (Cleveland Browns, 76 rating), Sony Michel (New England Patriots, 77), and Ronald Jones (Tampa Bay, 77). The Seahawks picked Rashad Penny at pick No. 27, Michel was selected at No. 31, Chubb went at No 35, Jones at No. 38, and Kerry Johnson went to the Detroit Lions at No. 43.

The general consensus was that Guice was the second most talented back coming out of college. However, his stock began to drop due to concerns about his character. That hasn’t stopped Redskins fans taking to the player, however. Guice has been spending extra time after practice to sign autographs and fans love him on social media. He even took a bunch of them to the movies to see Avengers: Infinity War.

Guice’s stock riding high

Redskins and LSU fans may agree with the rating and could well select Guice on their Madden team. They may even feel like they want to draft him on their fantasy team. Whether they fancy the Redskins’ chances to win the big game this season is another matter. With Kirk Cousins behind center and Guice in the backfield, however, their offence could yet prove to be a force. An online casino, such as those listed in CasinoFeber.se will offer decent odds on a Redskins Super Bowl win. Plus each casino on that site offers a bonus for first-time users. So it may be worth placing a bet, after all. While neutrals may well be quick to bet on the New England Patriots, Guice could yet have plenty to say about that.

The 5-foot 11, 225-pound back from LSU led his NCAA team with 1,251 yards on the ground and 11 touchdowns. That was in spite of a persistent knee injury. He was second overall in the SEC with 104.25 yards per game. He also had 18 receptions with 124 yards in the air and caught two touchdowns. He ranked fifth among backs at the 2018 NFL combine with a 4.49 40-yard dash. His 1,387 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns were No. 1 in the SEC in 2016.

In good company

The most impressive stat, however, was his 6.53 yards-per-carry. It ranks second all-time in the history of the SEC behind only Bo Jackson from Auburn (6.62). There’s a lot riding on the young back’s shoulders after the Redskins ranked just 28th in rushing yards last season. Guice took a high percentage of first-team snaps, along with Rob Kelley, during the summer. The Redskins will be hoping to see him there for years to come.

Madden NFL 19 will be in stores from August 10.
