The Dutch Antilles island of Curacao, long a hub for the online gambling sector, has issued a casino license to Edgeless, a decentralized application launched on top of the Ethereum protocol.

Bookmaker accepts most crypto-currencies

Thomas Draksas, the founder of Edgeless, said in a statement: “Curacao license is a good starting point which enables us to compete with traditional online casinos, however, we are not finished yet. The crypto and gambling field is evolving really fast including legalities. Our legal team will be working on acquiring more licenses in the near future and strengthening Edgeless legal base.”

Edgeless claims to be fully transparent with a 0% edge for the casino. It also desires to become the first decentralized online casino site.

Edgeless also says it is the first casino platform based on the Ethereum protocol licensed by a respected regulatory agency.  Cucarao, however, does have a track record for licensing online casinos that ultimately failed without player resolutions.

EmuCasino, licensed by Curacao, was prosecuted in Australia in 2016.  Now defunct Lock Poker lost its Curacao license after numerous complaints in 2015.  Struggling TopBet Casino, with a number of slow payout complaints, is also licensed in Curacao.

The island nation has long licensed Pinnacle Sports, one of the industry's most respected Web gambling ventures.
