One of the hottest stories on the Gambling911.com website Friday was Jagajeet Chiba’s look at escalating crime in Costa Rica, highlighted by a multiple shooting spree in front of the infamous Hotel Del Rey, which is a favorite stomping ground for online gambling operators and employees.

Readers reacted vehemently to Chiba’s story.

Jagajeet if you looking for drugs, poverty, violence and guns perhaps your next report should come from downtown Philly, Washington, Chicago. L.A or any number of other US cities. As a thirteen year resident of Costa Rica I have never been the victim of any kind of violent crime. Perhaps that is because I have done my best to embrace Costa Rica, its people and its culture not be loud, brash, arrogant and rude like so many american tourists who come here.

Those 7000 Marines are gonna make Costarrican whores RICH!!!!!!! So, who's the problem? Terrible article, not to mention that the thugs that shoot that day were probably Jamaicans or Dominicans (not meaning to offend anyone from those countries). Just wondering why more than the 70% of Del Rey customers are americans that are not visiting to get to know the place, it is probably the 100th time they've been there :-)
