Just because a line has a major shift doesn’t mean it’s the right move, isn’t that right San Diego State. You might recall last week when the Aztecs opened as an 18-point home favorite against UNLV and saw the number wagered to -24 by kickoff. No matter, the Rebels went out and pulled off the upset for their first Mountain West Conference win of the season. The Aztecs are on the other side of the fence this week with the line in their game against Fresno State shifting 3.5-points in their favor.

With a number of SEC teams going out of conference this week, the line moves in those games have been major. Georgia opened at -44 against UMass and currently sits at -41. The spread went against LSU in its game with Rice, moving from -44 to -41.5. Here’s a look at some of the biggest movers in early Week 12 betting action at BookMaker.eu.

Week 12 Major Line Moves

Duke at Clemson

Opening Line: Clemson -27

Current Line: Clemson -29.5

Clemson survived a scare against Syracuse with its third-string quarterback and they’ve been unstoppable ever since. Trevor Lawrence leads an offense that scores in bunches by throwing the most touchdown passes in the ACC, and the Tigers defense ranks among the top-10 nationally in a number of statistical categories, which is why Clemson has outscored its last five opponents by a combined score of 267-43. Duke is good, but Clemson has raked good teams all season. The line shifted 2.5-points in favor of the Tigers after opening at -27 with three-quarters of the early action backing the home team.

Kansas at Oklahoma

Opening Line: Oklahoma -34.5

Current Line: Oklahoma -36.5

The Jayhawks have won three games, which is cause for celebration in Lawrence. But can you see anything other than a rout in this game? The Sooners went from -34.5 to -36.5 thanks to some heavy support, but buyback has slowed down the lines ascent. Kyler Murray is a legitimate Heisman candidate and the Sooners could have 50 points by halftime. The dogs will be called off in the second half allowing for a possible backdoor cover by Kansas.

Ohio State at Maryland

Opening Line: Ohio State -17.5

Current Line: Ohio State -14

We might as well call this the Scandal Bowl given what both programs have gone through this season. Playing a game on Saturday is the least of their concerns. But the games will be played and the Buckeyes are a two-touchdown favorite to keep their hopes of a Big Ten East title alive. Bettors are counting on an OSU letdown with Michigan up next, and the Terps were hit with over 50 percent of the early action, dropping the line from its opening of +17.5.

UT-San Antonio at Marshall

Opening Line: Marshall -23

Current Line: Marshall -27

Somehow UTSA has won three games, but that wasn’t enough to sway the public. The Roadrunners are a bad football team that can’t score and has a tougher time defending. Their average point differential is minus-17.8 and they rank last in total offense, next to last in scoring and third from the bottom in rushing. They did beat Texas State, UTEP and Rice, teams with a combined five wins, so I guess you can say they are the best of the worst. Marshall was pounded when the line surfaced and the wagering leveled off after the line spiked four points to -27.

TCU at Baylor

Opening Line: TCU -1

Current Line: Baylor -2

Remember back when TCU had that big showdown with Ohio State? Yeh, me neither. Actually it was in Week 3 after the Frogs had a pair of humungous wins to open the year and were ranked No. 15. Including that loss to the Buckeyes, TCU is just 2-6 over its last eight games and that loss to Kansas is going to sting for a while. The Frogs opened as a 1-point favorite in this one, however, the line jumped the fence not long after surfacing with the Bears currently favored by a pair. Matt Ruhle has turned things around in Waco after the Art Briles fiasco and has the Bears a victory away from bowl eligibility a season after winning one game.
