It didn’t take long for the Bruins to shake off the rust from an extended break in game 1. The Blues took a 2-0 lead early in the second period, but the Bruins scored four unanswered goals to win 4-2.

I ended up going 1-1 on my picks for a small 0.20U profit. I won the first period prop bet on the Blues, but I also bet on the Blues winning the game. Let’s move onto my game 2 picks.

Stanley Cup Final's Preview and Predictions - St. Louis Blues vs. Boston Bruins

Blues vs. Bruins Game 2 Pick

Boston are -170 moneyline favorites (-1.5 Puck Line at +170 Odds), while the Blues are priced at +150 (+1.5 Puck Line at -200 Odds). The over/under is set at 5.5 goals (Over +120 vs. Under -140).

Things looked promising for the Blues early in the opener, but then Boston took over completely. It has to sting being up 2-0 and then losing 4-2, especially when the Bruins top line struggled.

Brad Marchand scored the empty-netter, but Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak were pointless and that’s likely not going to happen again. The Bruins outshot STL 18-3 in the second period and tied the game up on goals from defensemen Connor Clifton and Charlie McAvoy (PPG).

By the end of the third period, the Bruins had outshot the Blues 38-20. Tuukka Rask made 18 saves in a relatively quiet night for him. Jordan Binnington kept his team in the game, but he looked shaky the entire game and I’m sure he wishes he could have back a couple of the goals he conceded.

The Blues also finished the game with 5 penalties compared to two for the Bruins. Boston was only able to convert one power player (20%), but the Blues can’t afford to continue taking silly penalties.

Boston are going to be out for blood in game 2 and I can’t see the Blues bouncing back until they get back home. The loss was demoralizing and this game could get out of hand early.

I considered betting on the Bruins puck line with a +170 payout, but I’m going to play it a bit safer and wager on the Bruins to win in regulation in the 3-way market at close to even money (-106).

Blues vs. Bruins Game 2 Anytime Scorer Pick

  • Bet on Brad Marchand to Score Anytime (+180 Odds)

Marchand has scored a goal in the Bruins last three playoff games. He benefited from an empty-net goal in game 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs, but he had three shots on goal prior to that.

One of the more popular hockey prop bets is the “Who will score first” prop.

If the Blues are going to keep taking penalties, the Bruins PP1 is going to wake up. Marchand plays the wing and the Bruins regularly try to set him up for one-timers. He just missed one in the first period of game 1. I like his chances to light up the net for the fourth consecutive game tomorrow.
